Class Description:

A country's character is defined not only by its history, but also by the contribution of its people. With most history written by the victors (men), the history of their women is often overlooked. Women's contributions have been equally as rich and powerful, if voiceless, be they of noble or humble origins. Scotland's women are no exception. This class will explore their contributions be they on the political stage, in the arts, or in the home, and provide sources for further study. The class will include lists of books and websites.

Bios:

Jody Allen has a BA in History and is currently pursuing postgraduate archival work from the University of Dundee in Scotland. She has been an educator, museum curator, family historian and freelance historical researcher. She loves to travel, with Scotland and the UK her favorite destinations. Married 35 years, she attributes that to being a romance reader for over 45 years. A member of RWA®, WisRWA, and HHRW, she is currently working on a story set in 1302 Scotland and a nonfiction book for readers of Scottish romances in addition to pursuing a new career as a historical researcher for writers and families having left education.
