Every novel has common parts of scenes, such as moving the plot forward, revealing character, motivation, inner/external conflict, etc. These universal necessities will make up the first part of the workshop and be fleshed out and explained.
In addition, romance has some specific things readers expect to see. In the other half of this workshop we’ll dive deeper into:
There will also be a checklist of things a writer should ask themselves about every scene while they’re first crafting the scene and as they’re revising. This checklist includes topics like: Is there a strong opening hook? Does the scene portray a proper passage of time? Are you providing valuable information to the reader? Is the scene showing and not telling? A second checklist will talk about some gotchas many authors are plagued by. This workshop is geared toward both beginning writers and more advanced authors.
