Move over WWII! Midcentury is the hot new era in historical fiction. In this workshop, we’ll talk about what makes the mid-20th century such a great era. Spanning roughly 1945-1969, midcentury saw huge changes in technology, music, fashion, and leisure, to say nothing of the rise of the idea of the “teenager” as a distinct phase of life. Come along as we check out the changes in this era that can provide such rich fodder for your fiction. Topics include how to research fashion, notable inventions (and which part of midcentury they debuted!), popular musicians, the rise of television, and slang terms particular to the era. Be there or be square!
